Our Free Tour of Amsterdam starts at the Royal Palace, where we will discover the origins of the Dutch capital and how a small fishing village came to dominate the maritime trade of the Europe of the XVI-XVII centuries, considered one of the most important ports of the old continent. Along with our route through Amsterdam, we will remember the deep impression left by Spaniards and French in the history of the city, as well as the terrible episodes, lived during the Nazi occupation and the resistance that the Amsterdamers opposed to it. In addition to immersing ourselves in its history, we will walk along its famous canals while we contemplate that traditional architecture that so much impacts the visitor from any part of the world. All this and much more in a Free Tour to Amsterdam of 2 and a half hours designed to discover a different city and away from the strong topics for which nowadays the capital of Holland is known worldwide.

  Our guide Julia was very interactive and showed us beautiful corners of Amsterdam. The tour was super cool (in spite of the rainy weather) and we learnt some history of the city. Very much recommended.

On arrival

Look for our white umbrella in Dam Square, near the corner next to H&M store. Watch out! There are more white umbrellas. Look for ours!

Things to note

The minimum group for the tour is 6 people over 18 years. It is recommended to present yourself at the meeting point at least 15 minutes in advance. Your reservation is guaranteed until the start time of the tour, after that time your place may be reassigned to another participant.

This tour does not accept groups larger than 5 people with Freetour modality. Regardless of whether separate reservations are made, if the group is larger than that number, they will be given the option of doing the tour with a payment method (€10 per person).

The tour takes place regardless of weather conditions. Please cancel your reservation if for any reason you cannot take the tour (another person could take your place).

As of January 1, 2020, participants in all tours and activities of all operators in Amsterdam are subject to an “entertainment tax” of €1.50. It will be paid in cash at the meeting point before the start of the tour. Please note that this tax is not collected by Whiteumbrella, nor by the independent guides operating the tour, but is transferred directly to the municipality of Amsterdam.
